Like last month, there have been some major moves for The Bright Spot. Redmatter Creations LLC formation, second draft finalized, redmattercreations.com! Its been insane!
This month has been no different. You guys blew it out of the park last year and Redmatter Creations collected over $1500! Thats like--- a month and a half of rent!

Rest assured its not going to rent. Its going to your pledge reward addons!! 

I hired an editor to look over my project and she's making her way through. In the meantime I started the manufacturing process for the pledge rewards.

I will be working with an artist on Fiverr to get a map that is perfect for the world of Nivalis. I have a mockup map but this world needs something special.

Your bookmarks are currently being manufactured with VistaPrint.

Oracle cards are being manufactured by makeplayingcards.com. They do a fantastic job with their manufacturing and I'm very excited to see them in person.
As you know, there are were 3 cards in the pack. But I couldn't help myself to make another. And this one looks really really awesome. Hoping this new card will be a nice little treat when it comes in the mail for you!

I have not started manufacturing the stickers yet. I'm still waiting for a fourth design, as I don't feel 'Naidraug' is worth it. That will be done and manufactured soon.

An audiobook is not in the works at this moment. It will happen, but it's unclear when. Stay tuned for updates. You can find audio transcriptions of the first couple chapters on my website (redmattercreations.com). For your information, it IS made with AI. See the next section for more information

At Redmatter Creations, AI is nothing more than a tool, not used for creative means. I personally use AI to help organize my thoughts and clean up my workspace in a neat manner. It is not used to generate text that will be used in my books, and it is not used to generate any kind of art work.
That being said---I use AI as a tool in primarily placeholder work. The AI Audio transcriptions on my website are available for those who just want to listen. I will not use it for monetary gain. The voice used is also not my own, and I do not claim to own the likeness of the voice. It will not be used in the final product.

I won't be working on a sequel until the editor and I have made the necessary revisions for The Bright Spot. In the meantime, I'm working on something very special to me. I look forward to revealing it to you this fall. There will be another crowdfunding campaign for this future book, and hopefully the turn around is much quicker!

It has been a very eventful week. And I am excited to announce that Draft Two is finally finished! Previously I projected that I would end it at around 90 to 100k words, but I decided it was best for the book that I cut out the extra filler. Believe me when I say the book is better for it. No one wants 20 thousand words of people standing around and talking, waiting for the action to happen. The last few chapters snowball and I'd hate for the reader to lose momentum.

The draft does sit at about 85,000 words, which I'm sure will be trimmed down by my editor before its full release. Finishing this second draft feels like more of an accomplishment than finishing the first draft. What I'd written was broken and messy. I didn't think that it could be recovered. Thankfully I was very wrong. This new version is stronger and better than ever, truly capturing my vision for The Bright Spot.

It needed to happen sooner or later so on February 20th, 2025 I founded Redmatter Creations LLC. This is a huge step forward for me to have my own company where I can focus on doing what I love most. Writing Books for all of you and Web Design! (yes I know redmattercreations.com looks bad. It will be fixed soon.)

Basically, It's CEO'ing time.

As you guessed, the next chapter in the second draft is readily ready to be read by a reader. The reading can be read here: Chapter 6. The Password is Luminous6. Of course, Chapter 5 is unlocked and free for those who didn't back my project.

Hello travellers!

I know many of you are curious about the status of The Bright Spot and I have good news! Even though I said that my second draft should be done by February 1st, I assumed that I'd be copying and pasting the second half of the first draft with minor tweaks. Well, unfortunately, if you re-write one half of a novel, you need to re-write the other half too. Theoretically, it should have been possible, but it didn't work with the story I needed to tell, so onto rewriting.

Rewriting has been a very difficult process. I'm still trying to figure out my revision process, and so far, this seems to work for me—at least with this particular novel. In future novels, I'd like to try outlining fully before beginning to write.

Anyway, I know you want a percentage. Right now that's a difficult task because my novel doesn't seem like it's going to be the same length I'd imagined it to be. My first draft finished at almost exactly 80 thousand words (roughly 320 pages)

This draft is 70 thousand words, and there are still so many loose ends to tie up before I feel comfortable calling the book finished. Right now, I project draft 2 to have a total word count between 90 and 100 thousand words (400 pages). So maybe we are at about 70ish %. At the rate I'm writing, I guess it will be done by the end of March. But who knows? 

Once it is finished, it will be sent to beta readers and an editor for revisions. I expect this process to take about two months, but I don't know for sure.

Things may change with the sticker pack. A symbol I used in the first draft is not part of the second draft and will need to change. I have found an artist who's willing to do a couple of potential replacement designs. The image below is the one that may be changed. I've been hard at work on The Bright Spot, and I’m excited to share that I’ve finally got my website and domain up and running! There, you can find all the preview chapters I’ve released so far. The first two chapters are free for visitors, but the following chapters are password-protected. I’ll be dropping the passwords periodically here for my backers.

Please note that you’re receiving the chapters in DRAFT 2, not the FINAL DRAFT. Things are still subject to change.

 

Each chapter will also have an audio version available at the top of the page, so you can listen to the chapter if you prefer. I know some of you might not be into the idea, but for now, the audio transcriptions are narrated using AI. Pronunciations, tone, clarity, and character voices are affected and will not reflect the final product, as the final version will not use AI in any way.

Also, the site looks pretty bare-bones right now because I’m not ready to spend a lot more to make it look fancy just yet.
